Yoga Study Group: A Complete System for Better Living

Ancient Vedic and tantric texts (shastras) describe yoga as a system of techniques that address the person as a whole. Not merely a physical workout, traditional yoga is a methodology of lifestyle, philosophy and practices, which harmoniously develop all of the person's potential - the physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual qualities within each of us. By practicing the complete system of yoga consistently with full awareness, our “best” selves unfold naturally, rather than by forcing the body and mind beyond their limits.

In this course, we will explore the full spectrum of yoga through practicing the physical movements (asanas), breathing practices (pranayama), energy control techniques (mudras and bandhas) and internal cleansing rituals (shatkarmas) set forth in the tantric scriptures (shastras). 

What will the course include?

Step-by-step instruction in asana, pranayama, mudras, bandhas, shatkarmas & kriya that start from easy foundation practices and develop over time into more advanced techniques

Asana sequences to practice at home

Greater understanding of the philosophy behind yoga

Detailed hand-outs and worksheets explaining each class lesson

Community support in developing a yogic lifestyle

Anyone seeking a community of like-minded persons interested in personal and spiritual transformation.

By committing to study together as a group, we can all start from the beginning and progress through our learning and understanding in a supportive environment where questions and curiosity are invited, and joys and struggles can be shared. In this regard, participants are asked to commit to the entire course series and to routinely practice at home the assignments given in class.

Ayurveda Cooking Class

How to bring optimal health during the winter season and beyond!

Yoga’s sister Ayurveda teaches us that by returning to our true nature we can experience perfect health: body, mind, and consciousness. This 5000-year-old "science of life" is a healing system that sheds light on your particular constitution and its dynamic balance with the five elements and the changing seasons.

This class will cover the basics of ayurveda, seasons and what is happening in them, how to work with them and how to cook for winter. Then we will cook a wintery yummy meal. Come join us.
